Collaborations

Collaboration is one of my great joys and is a fundamental part of my research. If you are interested in collaborating or would like to hear more about the groups I am part of, please do reach out.

I am also passionate about community building. Paleoceanography is inherently interdisciplinary, which means that even close colleagues from the same institution may be in different departments across campus. Intentionally bringing people together helps us do better science and builds a stronger, happier community.

I have co-founded 2 mentoring groups at different institutions. 

During my time leading my department's graduate student organization at Rutgers, I started a Discord server that, though a seemingly small thing, bridged the divide between grad students in a department split between sprawling buildings on multiple campuses, which made in-person sightings rare. 

At WHOI, I started "Redox lunches" to bring together researchers with a shared interest in ocean redox processes. I also started the tradition of doing a puzzle in the shared area outside of my group's offices. Another small thing, but there's something about spending a few minutes leaning over a puzzle, looking for the same piece, that brings people together, gets them talking about their research, and even sometimes forming new collaborations.
